Abby Martin is a Chicago-based special effects artist and sculptor. Inspired by the squeamish practical effects of 80’s horror and the colorful personalities of Jim Henson’s worlds, he tries to emulate the experience of feeling disgust toward yourself alongside the more comical and outrageous moments that come with being a human being. Utilizing their background in the execution of large public artworks across Indiana, they approach puppetry and sculpting with a sense of scale and color that is both playful and horrifying. He is currently pursuing a BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
